Smiling new faces fill RCC during temporary senior center relocation
With the renovation project at the Don Persson Senior Activity Center underway, senior programming has been relocated to the Renton Community Center. So far, the results have been incredibly positive. Our Recreation team has ensured programs, daily activities, and lunch service have continued seamlessly. Blending two busy community centers is no easy task, but over the past week, the Recreation team has:
- Served 104+ lunches
- Filled the coffee bar at full capacity
- Activated six pickleball courts
- All regularly scheduled fitness classes up and running
- Dancing, karaoke, art, and so much more
Our Recreation team has done an outstanding job of ensuring the community connections built at the Senior Center remain consistent through ongoing programs, daily activities, and the vital lunch service. We’re especially grateful for the overwhelming appreciation and enthusiasm from participants. Both our patrons and staff are adaptable, resilient, and committed to keeping these meaningful services strong, accessible, and moving forward together.
We look forward to the upgraded Don Persson Senior Activity Center coming online in September, with a new climate control system – heating and air conditioning, as well as everything from new windows to interior finishes. The end result will be an upgrade to comfort, aesthetics, and safety for our vibrant and active senior community.
Thank you for your contribution!
