Substantial completion reached for Rainier Ave. S. Phase 4!

We’re excited to share that Rainier Ave. S. Phase 4 has reached substantial completion! This is a major milestone for this historic corridor. While the heavy lifting is behind us, you’ll still see crews out and about putting the finishing touches on the project. These final elements include:

  • Final landscaping
  • Pavement marking repairs/revisions
  • Pavement repairs

Heads up! Upcoming lane closure

The intersection of Rainier Ave / Airport Way / Renton Ave Ext will be reduced to one lane in all directions while we complete pavement repairs in the center of the intersection. This work is scheduled for Friday (3/27), starting around 7 a.m., weather dependent.

This is a huge accomplishment for the community. Thank you to our residents, businesses, and visitors for your patience and flexibility throughout construction. Upgrading a 100‑year‑old corridor to improve safety for people walking and biking and to ease traffic congestion takes time, but the payoff is long‑lasting. With these improvements in place, the corridor won’t need another major overhaul for generations.
