• Red Lion
  • Shared the history of the Red Lion Property in Renton and spoke to rumors that have circulated around Renton. VanValey clarified that the Red Lion is a King County building and that it is not zoned for housing. The city has not confirmed or supported any organizations claiming to have purchased the building.
• Business Robberies
  • Shared about the recent business robberies across Renton. Judge found probable cause for 8 counts of Robbery 1, 8 counts of Illegal Possession of a Firearm, and 7 counts of Assault 2.
• World Cup
  • The Puget Sound region is preparing for the World Cup. Downtown Renton’s new Legacy Square will be used to screen live matches during the event and will transition to use for continued activation including movie nights, concerts, and other community activities following the World Cup.

  • Yes, there will be a tree at the Renton History Museum and at Clam Lights. The Landing will also have their own tree as well.
• Are there updates about the Transit Center?
  • The Mayor and the Government Affairs Manager are advocating for an earlier groundbreaking timeline.
• What is the city doing to help the individuals who have spoken at council meetings about the Reserve and the towing issues?
  • While it is a civil issue that the city cannot interfere with, the Police Department and Code Enforcement have visited the property and check in on the concerns that were raised at city council meetings. The city has looked into the impounding records and there is heavy documentation of that the impoundments not being predatory.
