Welcome to the Northeast Renton Park Project!
The City of Renton Parks and Recreation Department is excited to share the next step in bringing a new neighborhood park to the north end of the East Plateau neighborhood. Following completion of the Northeast Renton Park Master Plan in 2024, the project is now moving into the detailed design and permitting phase. This phase will build upon the community-supported master plan to develop the technical designs, refine park features, and secure the necessary environmental permits for construction.
Situated on approximately 18.5 acres of City-owned land, the future park will address a longstanding gap in local park access. Bordered by the May Creek Greenway to the north, Duvall Avenue to the southwest, and residential neighborhoods to the south and east, the site features a diverse mix of forests, wetlands and streams, steep slopes, and previously developed parcels. This landscape diversity offers both design challenges and unique opportunities for recreation, restoration, and connection with nature.
The Master Plan established a long-term vision that balances ecological stewardship with community recreation. As the project advances through design and permitting, the City and its consultant team will refine details for several key park features, including:
Trails and trailheads
Nature play area
Picnic shelter and gathering spaces
A restroom facility
Habitat restoration and access to nature
Community input and environmental sustainability will continue to guide the park’s design as it moves toward construction. Updates on design milestones, public engagement opportunities, and permitting progress will be shared as the project advances.

Community feedback matters, and your survey response will help guide us as we work to bring the park vision to reality. We’ve also provided responses to frequently asked questions on the project home page to summarize the proposed design concepts and explain how this design was developed. Please note that demographic questions are entirely optional, but they help us better understand our community and improve our communications.

These design concepts were created based on the natural landscape and included the feedback provided by the community. Please choose your favorites/priorities on each concept to help influence the concept that will be used to plan the upcoming park!
This survey is now close. Thank you to all of those who responded.
