Welcome to the Cleveland-Richardson Park Master Planning Project!

The City of Renton Parks and Recreation Department is planning a future 24-acre park in south Renton—and we’re excited to continue this journey with you. Thank you to everyone who shared their hopes, concerns, and ideas during the first phase of community engagement. Now, we’re moving into the next chapter.

Where We Are Now

Phase 2 engagement Exploring Ideas has begun! Thank you to everyone who attended our online webinar or visited us at Teasdale Park, Benson Hill Elementary, the Weatlerly Inn or Vine Maple Place over the last two weeks. City staff will be meeting with other community based organizations next week, and will be at Renton River Days and the Farmers Market in late July.

Your input will help refine the direction of the park’s future. If you need to get caught up on the project, please see the sidebar links, including presentations, FAQs, and feedback summaries from Phase 1.

About the Project
This master planning effort will guide how the park is developed. The project team is working to evaluate the site’s natural assets, identify programming needs, and propose thoughtful design elements. The goal is to balance conservation of natural resources with new recreation opportunities—creating a park that meets our community’s needs now and into the future.

Why This Matters
As Renton grows to nearly 110,000 residents, access to green space becomes even more essential. This new park will help close gaps in park access—especially in the Talbot neighborhood—while offering places to play, connect, and support community health and well-being.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

We’re working on a plan for the future Cleveland-Richardson Park, and we want your input to make it the best it can be! The project will involve three main stages:

    • Phase 1: Listening & Learning (Now – Spring 2025)
We’ll introduce the project and hear your thoughts, hopes, and concerns for the park.

    • Phase 2: Exploring Ideas (Summer 2025)
We’ll share some design ideas based on what we’ve heard so far, and you’ll have a chance to give feedback and help shape the park’s direction.

    • Phase 3: Confirming the Vision (Late Summer – Fall 2025)
We’ll present a recommended park design that reflects the community input gathered throughout the process—and check in to see if we got it right.
