Maplewood Park Playground Project – Moving Forward!

Thanks to your input, we’re excited to announce the next step in the Maplewood Park playground project!

Final Design Selected

After reviewing community feedback, the City has selected Option A from Allplay Systems as the final playground design. Your voices helped shape this decision—and the design itself!

Here’s what’s new and improved based on what we heard from you:

• Color update: The equipment colors have been changed to blue and green (instead of the original blue and orange) to better reflect community preferences.
• New features added: We’ve included a spinner and monkey bars, thanks to your feedback.
• Even more upgrades—at no extra cost! A vendor promotion allowed us to add additional exercise equipment and the other enhancements free of charge.

What’s Next?

• City Council review: The final contract will be presented to City Council for approval on July 28.
• Construction timeline: We anticipate closing the existing playground afters school starts in late August or early September. The first phase of construction will:
  • Expand the playbox area
  • Build a new accessible pathway connecting to the ballfield
  • Complete necessary grading, drainage, and concrete work
• New playground installation: Once site work is complete, the new equipment will be delivered and installed.
• Grand opening: If all goes as planned, the new playground will open in late fall!
